The Senior Associate plays an important role in supporting the development and revision of SBTi’s technical resources within the Sector Standard Development team, working under the supervision of senior colleagues to ensure high-quality outputs. This position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and providing expertise and operational support and contributing to key projects that advance SBTi’s mission. It also exemplifies respectful behaviour, open communication, and integrity, embodying SBTi’s values and supports a positive, healthy work culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development of standards, tools and technical resources to facilitate the adoption of 1.5°C-aligned climate targets by emission intensive sectors, within industry, energy, and land-use.
  • Collaborates with senior team members to provide technical input to discussions and material that support the development of SBTi’s technical resources in line with SBTi’s Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Supports the preparation of technical material, e.g. presentations, webinars, workshops to disseminate key findings and/or gather further input from internal and external stakeholders in collaboration with senior colleagues.
  • Independently carries out (numerical) technical analysis, e.g. GHG accounting rules or target-setting tools etc. as part of project deliverables.

Location: UK

The Subject Matter Expert for Scope 2 is a crucial functional expert role responsible for contributing technical expertise to the development of the Corporate Net-Zero Standard and other cross-sector resources. The SME, Scope 2 will lead the development of work streams related to Scope 2 and corporate energy sourcing, integrating scientific research and data into actionable and robust standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides subject matter expertise to inform the development of SBTi’s technical outputs related to Scope 2 and energy sourcing, such as standards, guidance or explanatory documents, tools etc.
  • Collaborates with senior team members to draft, review, and finalise major outputs, including the Corporate Net-Zero Standard, in line with SBTi’s Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Monitors emerging trends, research, and policies relevant to the organisation's work to maintain cutting-edge expertise and collaborates with the research team in advancing subject matter expertise within the SBTi.
  • Prepares material, e.g. presentations, webinars, workshops to disseminate key findings and/or gather further input from internal and external stakeholders and delivers this material independently and/or in collaboration with Product Owner / Lead
